Congratulations on your LTS CozyCheck!
You are now on the fast track to optimising your horse care.

The LTS CozyCheck is the perfect way to measure temperature and humidity under the rug. This way, you’ll finally have the answers to the questions asked by every horse owner throughout most of the year:
“Did I put enough on my horse?”
“Did I put too much on?”
“Is he/she hot or cold?”
“What about the rain and wind factor?”

With the LTS CozyCheck, you can easily monitor the temperature and humidity under the rug by checking your LTS App, helping you choose the perfect rug for the weather conditions.

The LTS CozyCheck runs on a CR2032 button battery, which is included in the box. You can monitor the battery level in the app—just remember to replace it when it runs low (battery replacements are not included). To insert the battery, twist the unit counterclockwise to open it, place the battery inside, and then close it by twisting clockwise.

Simply scan your LTS CozyCheck with the Equine LTS App, available in the App Store and on Google Play. Name your device and set the temperature and humidity boundaries for the alarms. Both parameters have high and low boundary alerts to let you know when the temperature or humidity becomes too high or too low.

The Thermo-Neutral Zone (TNZ) for horses is between 5°C–20°C (40°F–68°F). This is the temperature range in which horses can regulate their body temperature without expending excessive energy. However, this will also depend on factors such as breed, age, health, coat condition, and whether the horse is clipped. The normal internal body temperature range for horses is 37.5°C–38.5°C (99.5°F–101.3°F).

Using the LTS CozyCheck as a tool to optimise your horse management will provide valuable insight into the temperature and humidity under the rug, allowing you to discover the conditions in which your horse is most comfortable.

When the humidity under the rug is too high, your horse is trying to release heat from the body. When the horse is wearing a full rug with a neck piece, it becomes difficult for the body to release this heat. We suggest setting the upper temperature boundary at no higher than 30°C (86°F). If the temperature under the rug exceeds the horse’s internal temperature, the horse is most likely too hot and cannot release heat efficiently.

When humidity exceeds 99%, the horse is sweating to release heat from the body. By collecting data from the LTS CozyCheck, you can identify patterns between temperature and humidity under the rug — as the temperature rises, so does the humidity. This helps you adjust the rug to each individual horse’s needs and optimise your overall horse care.

Once you’ve set the boundary alarms, you’re ready to go. Securely place the LTS CozyCheck in the CozyBag, or in another small bag or pocket, under the rug. The LTS CozyCheck uses Bluetooth; to upload data, you must be within Bluetooth range of the device. When you open the LTS App, you can see which LTS CozyChecks are within range.

We believe that by using the LTS CozyCheck and adjusting rugs according to the weather, horse owners will gain valuable insight into the temperature and humidity under the rug. After just a few days, you’ll be able to make more informed decisions about which rug to use each day as temperatures and weather conditions change throughout the seasons.
