IMPORTANT: The LTS LiteAid Pro needs to be fully charged before use.
Please read this user manual carefully before using the LTS LiteAid Pro and keep it for future reference.
1. About LTS LiteAid Pro
The LTS LiteAid Pro is a compact, rechargeable light therapy device designed for targeted use on horses and other animals.
Its small and lightweight design makes it easy to position on specific areas where larger light therapy products may be difficult to use.
The LTS LiteAid Pro uses two wavelengths:
- 660 nm red light
- 850 nm near-infrared light
The measured irradiance is approximately 7.9 mW/cm².
2. Intended Use
The LTS LiteAid Pro is designed for targeted photobiomodulation/light therapy on horses and other animals.
It can be positioned over areas such as muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints, as well as areas of stiffness or where recovery support is desired.
The LTS LiteAid Pro is intended as a supportive therapy device and does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.
3. Before First Use
Fully charge the LTS LiteAid Pro before using it for the first time.
Before each treatment:
- Check the LiteAid Pro for visible damage.
- Make sure the unit is sufficiently charged.
- Make sure the treatment area is clean and dry.
- Ensure the animal can be safely monitored during treatment.
Do not use a damaged LiteAid Pro.
4. Charging
The LTS LiteAid Pro contains a rechargeable battery.
Place the individual LiteAid Pro units correctly into the supplied charging case.
Connect a USB-C cable to the charging case and connect it to a suitable USB power source.
Please note: A USB-C charging cable is not included.
Make sure each LiteAid Pro is positioned correctly in the charging case to ensure proper charging contact.
A fully charged LiteAid Pro provides approximately 1 hour of operating time.
Do not charge the LiteAid Pro or charging case when wet, and do not use damaged charging equipment.
5. How to Use
Remove a fully charged LiteAid Pro from the charging case and switch it on.
Position the light-emitting side towards the animal, directly over the area you wish to treat. For optimal light delivery, position the device as close to the skin as possible.
Depending on the treatment area, it can be secured using a suitable fixation method, such as sports tape or CoverAid.
When securing the LiteAid Pro to a leg or other area, make sure it is not secured too tightly. The fixation must not restrict circulation or cause discomfort.
Always make sure the animal is comfortable and that the device remains correctly positioned during treatment.
6. Recommended Treatment Time
The measured irradiance of the LTS LiteAid Pro is approximately 7.9 mW/cm².
The delivered light dose is calculated as:
Dose (J/cm²) = Irradiance (W/cm²) × Treatment time (seconds)
At 7.9 mW/cm²:
- 10 minutes = approx. 4.7 J/cm²
- 15 minutes = approx. 7.1 J/cm²
- 20 minutes = approx. 9.5 J/cm²
- approximately 21 minutes = 10 J/cm²
Based on these specifications, we recommend a treatment time of approximately 20 minutes per area, delivering approximately 9.5 J/cm² at the surface.
For first-time use, treatment can be started at 10–15 minutes and gradually increased to approximately 20 minutes.
The calculated dose represents the light energy delivered at the surface of the treatment area. The amount of light reaching deeper tissue will vary depending on factors such as coat, skin and tissue depth.
Treatment frequency may vary depending on the area and reason for use. For a specific injury or veterinary condition, consult your veterinarian.
7. Red and Near-Infrared Light
The LTS LiteAid Pro combines:
660 nm red light – visible red light.
850 nm near-infrared light – light that is largely invisible to the human eye and is used for reaching deeper tissue than visible red light.
Because 850 nm light is largely invisible, not all of the emitted light will be visible when the LiteAid Pro is switched on. This is normal and does not indicate a fault with the device.

9. After Treatment
After treatment, switch off and remove the LiteAid Pro from the animal.
Check the treatment area and clean the LiteAid Pro if necessary.
Make sure the device is completely dry before returning it to the charging case.
Recharge as required so that the LiteAid Pro is ready for the next treatment.
10. Cleaning
Clean the LiteAid Pro carefully with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Do not submerge the LiteAid Pro or charging case in water, machine wash the device, or use aggressive or abrasive cleaning products.
Allow the LiteAid Pro to dry completely before charging or storing it.
11. Storage
When not in use, store the LiteAid Pro units in their charging/storage case in a clean, dry environment.
Protect the device from water, excessive moisture, excessive heat, prolonged direct sunlight and heavy pressure.
Do not allow horses or other animals to step on, bite or chew the LiteAid Pro.
Keep the charging case and charging equipment out of reach of animals.
12. Important Safety Information
- For use on horses and other animals only.
- Do not look directly into the LEDs while they are switched on.
- Do not use a visibly damaged LiteAid Pro.
- Do not use or charge the device when wet.
- Do not submerge the LiteAid Pro or charging case in water.
- Do not secure the device so tightly that circulation is restricted.
- Do not allow an animal to bite, chew or step on the device.
- Do not open, modify or attempt to repair the electronic components or rechargeable battery.
- Stop treatment if the animal shows unexpected discomfort or skin irritation.
- The animal should be appropriately monitored while the LiteAid Pro is in use.
13. Veterinary Conditions
The LTS LiteAid Pro is intended as supportive light therapy.
If an animal has significant swelling, acute pain, an undiagnosed injury, an active or suspected infection, or worsening symptoms, consult a veterinarian.
Do not use light therapy directly over an area with an active or suspected infection without first consulting your veterinarian.
For pregnant mares, avoid treatment directly over the abdominal area where the foal is located.
Light therapy should never delay necessary veterinary examination, diagnosis or treatment.
14. Troubleshooting
The LiteAid Pro does not switch on:
Place the unit in the charging case and fully recharge it. Make sure it is correctly positioned in the case.
The LiteAid Pro does not charge:
Check that the unit is correctly seated in the charging case, the USB-C cable is properly connected, and the USB power source is working. If necessary, try another suitable USB-C cable or power source.
The operating time is shorter than expected:
Fully recharge the LiteAid Pro. Expected operating time is approximately 1 hour per full charge. Battery runtime may vary slightly with use and battery condition.
Some of the light is not visible:
This is normal. The LiteAid Pro uses 850 nm near-infrared light, which is largely invisible to the human eye.
If a problem continues, discontinue use and contact Equine LTS Customer Service.
15. Warranty and Physical Damage
The LTS LiteAid Pro is covered against manufacturing defects according to the applicable Equine LTS warranty conditions.
Damage resulting from external forces, incorrect handling or misuse is not considered a manufacturing defect. This includes damage caused by being stepped on, bitten, chewed or crushed, as well as water damage and unauthorized opening, modification or repair.
